I have a maytag dryer that isn't working. I recently installed a new belt and then the next day the dryer stop working. I did find a broken coil in the heating element. I also measured all the voltages on the drive motor (all 120v) except 0v going to the heating element. Is there a reliable way to test the motor, and also the 5 wires on the motor, are they all inputs or is the wire going to the heating element an output. Also when I press the cycle selector switch (momentary contact) to start the dryer it appears to do nothing. Thanks!
If the unit runs but just does not heat then the heating element being broken would be the cause. If the unit will not run at all you will want to check the thermal fuses for continuity.
