My original ice door dispenser motor went out after having the fridge for 5 years. I replaced it and it lasted about 2 months and I replaced it again and it has lasted about the same amount of time and is now dead again. The motor is getting power but it is not turning. The motor shaft seems frozen in one position and when I take it out and reinstall, it moves but moves differently from normal so it does not open and close the door. Could I have had 2 bad motors in a row or is something else possible like a bad control board? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
ANSWER Hello Ericvq,
I just worked on one of these a few months ago that was doing the exact thing you described. The motor replacement fixed it temporarily and after two motors, I ordered the control board. Changing the control board seemed to work for a few days, until the customer called me back again. This time I ordered the board and the motor. After replacing both at the same time, the customer hasn't called me back. I would recommend changing both at the same time.
