My old washer seems to get off balance no matter how much I shift the load around. It is stable on the fllor and appears to level. Could this be a bearing problem?
Teetot for Model Number A412 Maytag washer
ANSWER Teetot, The bearing isn't likely. You'll need to remove the front panel and check the damper pads 203956 and damper 203725.
If the pads are worn and or sticking out between the damper and the base, this allows, the friction and movement of the tub to transfer into the base and cause the machine to vibrate, shake, and walk. It's actually a somewhat easy, inexpensive repair, if that's the issue.
