My Whirlpool washer has been having this problem for a while. After each agitate cycle, it should spin while it drains and fills with fresh water. It sounds like it is spinning but doesn't. So the dirty water never fully rinses out.
However, if I lift the lid at the start of the cycle I'll hear a loud "clunk" and when I lower the lid it spins as it should. So my wife or I have to wait around while doing laundry so we can go lift the lid.
I replaced the clutch, that didn't fix it. Next step, replace the transmission. Expensive, but it's cheaper than a new washer and we like this one. So I bit the bullet, bought and replaced the transmission and hoped for the best.
Didn't fix it.
(BTW, thanks for the great installation videos, very helpful)
ANSWER Hello SEP_AZ. You will need to check the clutch assembly and the drive block in the unit. Either can cause the issue you are having.
