What test can I do on my old gearbox to determine whether or not it is bad? On my old gearbox, I can spin the input shaft (motor coupler) and see the output shaft turn; one direction spins the outer drum shaft, the other direction spins the agitator slowly back and forth. However, I can hold the output shafts still with my hand and continue to spin the input shaft. Does that mean that my gearbox is bad, or is it supposed to do that?
Based on the information it sounds like the issue will either be the clutch not releasing the brake or the gearcase is faulty.
