Maytag pav22008ww s/n 10670263ww washer was in wash cycle. It started making noise like stripped gears agitator vibrating big time. Does this suggest transmission? Unitapprox 12 yew old. Help

ANSWER Marlon, It's very possible, you have a transmission issue 35-6615 but you need to check the thrust bearing assembly cams and washers 12002213 first. If theres a drastic change in the tolerance, the gears inside the case wont mesh properly and can also create the same noise and vibration in the washer.
