The washing machine makes a loud clicking (knocking) sound and the lights dim with each knock during the rinse cycle. The sound is not heard during the agitate or drain cycles. The agitate and drain cycles operate properly. It doesn't wobble around. The drum does not seem to be unusually loose. I have already changed the motor coupler, the clutch, the lid switch and the pump. There are no obstruction in the drain lines. Do you think I have to change the transmission? Is the transmission the same as the gearcase, just a different name?
ANSWER Hello Helpergirl,
What you would want to do to eliminate the possibility of it being the motor is to take clamps off motor and set motor on floor still connected to wire harness and run spin cycle. If the problem still happens then you would need new motor. If no noise exists then replace the transmission.
