The lower element is enclosed, how do you replace it?
Harold Johns for Model Number MER57550AW
ANSWER Hello Harold. This is a simple repair. First, Turn off the breaker because the elements always have 120Vac floating on them and will be an electrical shock hazard. Now, to ease the repair, remove the racks from the bake compartment. At the bottom in the rear of the bake compartment, you will notice two screws, one on each end of the element. Remove these screws and gently pull the element from toward you. This is done gently because if the wires are pulled off they can go back into the holes and require the removal of the oven rear panel to retrieve them. Remove the wires one at a time, hooking them to the new element as they are removed so as not to allow them to ever lay loose. Once both wires are on the new element, slide it back in so the screws can be reinstalled. Reinstall your racks and your ready to turn the breaker back on and bake! I hope this helps!
