My Whirlpool oven has a broken hinge latch and I cannot remove the door. The hinge is OK. Only the latch is broken. I need to remove the door to replace a broken inner glass. How can the door be removed with a broken hinge latch?
ANSWER Hello Larry,
When this occurs, I clamp my small vice grips on the hinge so it cannot pivot back into the assembly. Be aware that you definitely shouldn't clamp onto the double part of the hinge, but on the single part only. This will avoid bending the hinge is such a way that the door hinge would have to be replaced for the door to ever close properly.
