For Whirlpool Oven Igniter Assembly (Part Number: AP4102012)

The lower oven was not coming on at all after cleaning mode. Upon inspection found the bake igniter wiring burned and fused together. Replaced igniter cutting the fused lines and splicing together the new igniter wiring to stove wiring.. The new igniter does not glow nor does the oven come on. No heat whatsoever. The upper oven and broiler work fine. The control panel only shows the preheat indicator but does not show the bake icon. Could the electronic control board bake sensor have shorted out when the lower igniter wires fused together? Does the Maytag oven recall have anything to do with igniter burning out in the first place? Thanks in advance for your response and expertise.

K Heintz for Model Number MGR6772BDW

ANSWER K Heintz, To check to see if the control board is sending power to the igniter, you will want to access the control board. There will be a 5 pin connector that has a red, yellow, orange and black wire going into them. Black will be your L1 for the lower bake. There will then be a 3 pin connection that has a white and a black wire. The white is the neutral. Check from the Orange on the 5 pin connector to the white on the 3 pin connector with the unit set to bake for the lower oven for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac present then the control board would need to be replaced. If there is 120 vac then you will want to check the wiring from the control board to the igniter to make sure that there are no other bad spots in the wiring. If the control is defective then the clock that you would need is based on the serial number. The part number of the control is 5701M576-60
