The person out said I need an oven igniter. The oven will not heat and smells of gas. Can I repair myself ?
ANSWER Robin, The person was probably correct, based on your post description, and the fact that 95% of gas oven heat and temperature issues are due to a weak or faulty igniter 74007498. Yes, it is a repair you can perform yourself, with basic hand tools. Remeber to turn power off to the oven, remove the oven door, oven racks, and the oven bottom. You should see the oven igniter mounted on the side of the burner tube, remove the two(2) screws and unplug the wire connector. Reverse the procedure and test the oven for ignition and heat.
