When I put pans on both racks in the oven, (which was preheated to 450 degrees), the temperature goes down to 400 degrees and will not go back up even though I raise the temperature way up. My stove is over 10 years old. I believe it's the sensor. Please send me installation instructions to replace the sensor. If you think it could be something more, please advise. Thanks.
The temperature sensor W10181986 is located in the bake compartment at the top. Two screws hold it in place. After removal of the screws, be very gentle as you pull the sensor wires out so you don't unplug the sensor from the sensor harness. If this happens, you will have to remove the back of the unit to retrieve it. If it comes out alright, unplug the old sensor and test its' resistance with an ohm meter. It should read approximately 1100 ohms at 70°F give or take 10% tolerance. If the sensor is over 10 years old, I'm sure the sensor will correct the issue.
It is very important to insure that the connector is pushed all of the way through the insulation and out of the 2nd hole in the back. If this isn't accomplished, the heat from the bake compartment will melt the Molex connector and the failure will repeat.
