You are correct in what you are saying, the fan does work when it is cold however will not work when heated up .
The only thing I can think of is the timing has been distorted for the Ice making inside the machine. This would be most likely from the circuit panel in the front to turn it off or clean mode. From what I am reading on this, it could be one of 4 things .. 1 The timing ( not sure if it's this. need to do a lot of electrical testing ) 2 Short on gas ( don't believe it's this) 3 The shut down switches we are working with you on ( could be this ) 4 Compressor cooling radiator blocked with dust or dirt ( it's not this , it is clean as a whistle , and I blew it out just in case with my compressor )
ANSWER Hello Jim. It sounds like the fan motor is bad, and will need to be replaced. If it were the timer, the unit would quit cooling completely. It would do the same thing with low gas and bad relay/overloads. If the coils are cleand and not clogged, you will need to replace the fan motor. Hope this helps.
