How can I tell if an overload is bad? Fridge and freezer at room temp. Fans working. Compressor warm and vibrating.

Mike for Model Number SX25SL

ANSWER Hello Mike, To test the overload you would use multi meter and check continuity from terminal to terminal where it plugs onto the compressor. If the compressor is running then you would want to check the frost pattern on the evaporator and check to make sure that your evaporator fan it running. If the fan is not running check for 120vac to the fan motor. If there is not 120vac check your defrost bimetal for continuity. If there is no frost pattern then you either have a faulty compressor, a restriction in the sealed system or a leak. If you have impacted evaporator coils then it would be a defrost problem.
