My washing machine is doing the EXACT same thing as George... Display says 8 and the extend spin and softer buttons are lit. If I keep playing with it enough, it will clear and let me get a load of laundry done. I did your signal-soak cycle test, it first started up a heavy duty cycle for me. Then I did it again and all the LED lights on the panel lit up. Do you think it's the Console part or the motherboard? I'm now also receiving one error code intermittenly, it's L5 or Ls? this is new as of today...the pump was replaced on it this morning. Up until today, no error codes had been displayed!
ANSWER Hello Theresa. You will need to check and see if the lid switch assembly 8272124 is bad on the unit causing the LS code. Also look for loose connections on the control board assembly. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
