ANSWER ED, Sorry, No it can't, You're on target you'll need to raise the cooktop out of the counter top, support it over the opening with a couple of wooden 1X2's and pads, is the easiest way to do it. Remove the outer perimeter screws, remove th3e bay opening screws, remove or manipulate the control panel and switches, then remove the top trim assembly. You can now lift the bay assembly out enough to access the retainer strap screws, and receptacles.
