My refrigerator will not get cold the compressor makes a clicking noise so I replaced the start device and the run capacitor but it still does not get cold I manually turned the defrost timer but that didn't help When I turn the cold control thermostat it does turn off and on so does that mean that part is good or can it still be bad
If the compressor is running and the unit is not cooling then you will want to check to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is running. Also check the evaporator coils for a frost pattern. If the coils are impacted with ice then you have a defrost failure. Turn the defrost timer while the rear cover in the freezer is off and wait 5 to 10 minutes to see if the impacted coils start to melt. If so then replace the timer. If there is no frost pattern with the compressor running then there is a sealed system failure.
