My oven flames way too high. Your helpful FAQs make me think thermostat, not regulator, even though the troubleshooting in the manual says to replace the regulator. Are any special skills needed to replace the thermostat, AP4097896? Does anything need to be put on the fittlings, such as sealer, pipe tape, etc?
In case the regulator, AP4009952, does need to be replaced, are there any precautions for this? It looks like the regulator connection to the manifold does have some kind of white sealer on it.
Since it is just the oven that the flames are too high then the most likely cause would be the thermostat rather than the regulator. When you install you will always want to use gas Teflon tape for the connections. This helps to keep gas from leaking.
