The service tech shorted and melted part of the wall outlet while checking across the partially exposed plug for 220 voltage. When he came to, he told me I needed a new board and heater relay. I replaced the board and the dryer now works fine. I can not find the relay anywhere. There are 3 unused terminals on the board. Is it likely that the tech took the fried relay with him? Would the dryer still work without the relay? I can not find any unattached wires, any screws or any place the relay would go inside the control panel. Is it safe to run the dryer?
ANSWER Hello Barry. No, you must have the relay for the dryer to heat properly. You will need to order a new relay 306199.
