Earlier today I asked about a compatible starter relay for a 8EA403. Someone cross ref'd and gave me pn 2262185. Thank you for that. My question now is whether you have ever seen a starter relay as bad if the contacts are not burned up and the PTC pill is intact and measuring the correct resistance at nominal temp. Do the PTC Pills lose their functionality over time maybe or do they not respond correctly when heated with current flow. My windings on my compressor seem to check out ok but the starter relay seems to be ok too. Hate to spend $30+ on a part not knowing for sure it is cause of my problem. Is it possible that my compressor windings could be measuring ok when checked with meter but when power is applied they are shorting out after heating up. It appears to me that the symptom is a bad starter relay but have not seen that happen before without the starter relay having burn marks on the contacts at some point. Thanks again!
ANSWER Hello Buzz. Yes, they can be bad and appear to be good. If you order it and try it and it does not fix the issue, then the compressor is bad. You can return the part if it is not needed.
