I have a Maytag Refridgerater Model # MZD2768GEB. The ice maker makes ice but will not dispense either crushed or cubes. Your customer service dept has recommended that we need part # AP4069460/ICE RING. We should be receiving this part within a few days. However we were looking at the broken ice ring and we are unable to remove it because the spiral auger is in the way. Would you please explain how to remove the auger and install the new Ice Ring drive part. Thank you

ANSWER Felice, To replace the drive ring 61003336 you will have to disassemble the ice bin. You will need to remove the 4 screws that are holding the front cover on and the 4 screws that are holding the crusher cover on. Also take the screw out that is holding the bin arm that runs from front to back. Slide the crusher assembly forward and replace the drive ring. You may want to check to see if the auger motor is operational. To do this you will put dispenser to cube or crushed and open the freezer door. Push in on light switch and push the dispenser pad for dispensing. If the motor does not turn then you will want to check to make sure that power is getting to the motor. If there is then the motor is bad and would need to be replaced.
