Our freezer door keeps popping open when the fridg door closes because they are side by side so we are continually pushing the freezer door closed. The problem is that the magnet in the seal either is defective or very weak. I understand that Whirlpool makes the seal and I am hoping that by replacing the seal myself will correct this problem; however, if the magnet is the same strength I'm afraid that the problem will still exist. What do you think: Is it a defective magnet or is the magnet just too weak to do what it is supposed to do? Thanks

ANSWER Hello Howard. It is normal to have the issue you are having. Replacing the gasket will not fix the issue, but making sure the unit is level can fix the issue. If it is unlevel, it tends to do this more often.
