While on the bake setting my Kenmore oven heated up, but only on the broiler element. The display read E2 F3 and I couldn't shut the oven off. I eventually had to turn the breaker off to stop it. Do I need a new temperature sensor or is it something else?
ANSWER Hello Joe,
The E2-F3 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board in the range senses an over-temperature condition in the oven, (known by technicians as "runaway temperature"). This can be caused by a temperature sensor probe 8273340 out of tolerance, a wiring problem between the sensor and the control board, or an electronic control board relay failure. If the oven is not heating when this error code appears, (unit not turned on), then you probably have an out-of-tolerance temperature sensor probe. To test with an ohm-meter, it should read about 1100O at room temperature, (70°F). If the oven is overheating, then you likely have a stuck relay on the electronic oven control board 8523665.
