My 3.5 month old dishwasher developed a problem. It will not drain completely between cycles or at the end of the program. The drain pump runs and discharges a small flow when it runs. I have run the complete cycle holding the drain hose going directly into the sink. Between cycles it will leave wash water at the level of the heating element and then refill to start the rinse cycle. When completely done there is water still remaining at the level of the element. Pressing the cancel/drain button will cause the tub to completely drain.

ANSWER Hello Brain. It is normal for some water to remain in the unit, but should not be visible with the door open. You will need to look for blockages in the drain hose and if there is none, replace the pump on the unit.
