I have a kenmore elite model 1065896701. I need to get the shaft out and I'm not sure if its frozen in place. The flapper was off the dispenser and the auger and shaft was stripped I have a new ice bucket and shaft but again the shaft wont come out please advise me as what to do thank you also installed a new flapper.

ANSWER Randi, To get the shaft out, once you have the 2 screws removed from the cover of the shaft, you would then use a pair of channel locks and tap it once or twice. Once you have done this, try to lift the shaft from the hole. If it still will not come loose then you may have to remove the motor to get it out. The motor is located at the top part of the 3rd shelf from the bottom. Take out the 2 screws and remove cover. Once removed the motor will be held in place by 4 - 1/4" screws. Remove the screws and lower the motor. You may have to pull hard if the shaft is frozen.
