The motor on ice dispenser, I cant get the hex shaft out of the motor. Help, please!
ANSWER Hello Mike,
If the shaft is down in the hole there are three things you can try. The first is a strong magnet. If it still won't come out you can try a pair of needle nosed pliers. Put them into the opening and open them against the inside of the opening in the end of the shaft. The last ditch effort is to remove the motor from the bottom end. This is a difficult task since it comes out on this model through the front of the dispenser. The complete dispenser will have to be removed to access it and then the shaft will drop with the motor and you have to reach in and push it up to get the motor out of the way. The tray has to be raised at the rear to un-clip it from the track and there are two screws that hold the dispense cover in place.
Before removing these two screws, unplug the unit from the power supply! There is not only a chance of electric shock but there are control boards that you can short and damage if power is continued on them during dis-assembly. Once these are all out of the way and you move back the moisture cover the motor mounts with four screws. It is pretty much self explanatory from there.
