Your answer was (It is held in place with springs. It is designed to "float". The pins are for setting the plate, then the fall in the cups for future use. Hope this helps.) So my question is what is the future use? Are they suppose to engage the skate plate during operation?

ANSWER Hello Rob. If the unit is torn down for a complete rebuild, the pins are needed to line up the floater plate. They are not at any thime used during the operation of the washer. Hope this helps.
