Would this part be a reason why my washer will not spin the in spin cycle? It will spin if the load is very light.

Sharon for Model Number RAS8244LQ0

ANSWER Hello Sharon, The spanner nut 21366 could be loose, but if this is the cause, it will need a new drive block 389140 and possibly a new basketdrive assembly 285792. If the spanner nut is loose, the drive block will have to b replaced, but you need to determine if the basket drive needs replaced or not. This is done by looking at the "ears" that stick up and mesh with the two notches in the drive block. If the ears are square on both sides of both ears, the basketdrive is good. If one side of both ears are rounded off, the basketdrive will have to be replaced to avoid a repeat of the same issue. There is a special tool used to remove and reinstall the spanner nut. The part number is TJ90TB123A. You could have a bad motor coupler unless the unit is agitating properly. If it is agitating properly, the motor coupler cannot be the issue.
