I am working on an Amana model #abb1924web1. I have not started any testing yet. The symptom is it is plugged into a ground fault outlet and will trip it when trying to start. Could this be a problem with the starting device? I also plan on testing the defrost element for a short. I was wondering about your thoughts on this problem.
ANSWER Hello Jim,
This is most likely a weak GFI outlet. The unit, if you check with the installation instructions, is not recommended to ever be plugged into a GFI. You can check the refrigerator by using an appliance extension cord and plugging the unit into a normal wall outlet.
