Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
Refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling. Determined the compressor was not running. Removed the start cap. and relay and checked the continuity to each pin of the compressor coil. No shorts. I checked the cap. and it seems to work ok. slowly charged up and then fired. When I checked the relay coil I got no reading. I believe it has an open coil. Can I order just the relay and not the capacitor. The part number seems to be for the assembly. My main question is why any thing has failed on what I was told was a top of the line unit and bought only seven years ago. I am really disappointed in this failure. We had to throw out everything in the frig. and the freezer. I expected it to last a lot longer than this.
The manufacturer has the start device for your unit that comes with a new capacitor. If you want to just change out the relay you could use part number 8201786 which will have a couple of different start relays included.
