My freezer is frosting up on the back wall. The coils are totally iced over. I triggered a long defrost by holding the door light and pushing temp down 3 times. It kicked in and indeed defrosted the coils (fast!). What does this tell me? Thermostat bad? Other? We've sunk over $800 in repairs into this thing so I'm either going to tackle this myself or buy a new fridge. Thanks in advance!

ANSWER Hello Keith,
By the unit going into a defrost when you put it through the forced defrost cycle indicates that the heater and thermostat are working properly. You would need to replace the control board 12784415 on unit.
