Defrost was not working. I replaced both defrost thermostat and timer. Defrost heater now only works when timer is turned to manual defrost position. Timer seems to be working and does turn off condenser fan on schedule- but no heat from heater element. What else could be the problem?

ANSWER Hi John. A little conflicting info... If you say the heater works when the timer is manually advanced then there is an issue with either the timer itself or the wiring. Is the pink wire on # 2 timer connection ? Is the Blk on the # 1 ? Is the orange on the # 4 and the red on # 3 ? It also is marked on the side of the timer. Timer part # 2183400. The heater should have 8-18 ohms resistance. It is part # 2006751. The defrost thermostat is part # 4387499. It seems like if the heater fully gets hot then you have a wire connection issue or a timer issue. Let us know what you find and we will continue to assist. Thank You.
