My dryer only came on in wrinkle shield mode. I looked at wiring diagram and discovered I could bypass timer by removing plastic connector on right side and shorting the two wires in the connector with another wire. This made my dryer work fine but I do not know if it proves timer is bad. I am not sure if timer is supposed to receive another signal to activate connection other than the dial.
ANSWER Hello Dan, Yes if you bypass the timer, and the dryer works, then it leads to a bad timer 8299766 on the unit.
