How can I make sure if this igniter is not working before I buy it?

ANSWER Hi Hugo. You can take a ohm meter and check to see what it ohms out to. It should read 0- ohms or closed circuit. You need to see if it ohms to chassis ground while it is bolted in place to see if it is cracked porcelain and grounded out. Igniter part # 8053717. Thank You.
