Hello, I have a Maytag 61S14WAW gas range. The stove top works and lights just fine, but the oven will not heat up at all. I turn the knob, and nothing happens. I don't smell gas in the oven when the knob is turned on. Any ideas what part I should replace?
One other symptom we've had in the past is this: When the oven knob is turned all the way to high heat BROIL, it works fine but cannot be shut off. I've had to close the gas inlet ball valve to stop the flow of gas, turn off the oven, and then it can shut off. I'm not sure if this is related but thought it would be helpful to share.
Please help, thanks!
ANSWER Greg, You'll need to remove the oven bottom panel, and the metal flame spreader on the top of the burner tube, to test and observe the glow bar igniter12400035 for a "white hot" glow, and 120 VAC at the cabinet wiring harness for the igniter. You most likely have a weak or cracked igniter, but if you don't have the voltage on the wires, you'll need to check the wiring back up to the thermostat and check the thermostat switch for a closed circuit. 7404P087-60 Thanks, and good Luck.
