Is there an easy way to disconect the wires from the underside of the burner and ignitor on Maytag gas ranges. The wires on my range are very tight, and I'm concerned that pulling the connector too hard may break something.
ANSWER Mark, Unless theres been some kind of repair or change to the wiring, all you need is 3/4 to 1 inch clearance, to unplug the wires on the terminal of the igniter. Heres some help " Unplug the power cord or turn power off to the range. Grasp the top of the sealed burner and turn the burner 90 dgrs. in a counterclockwise direction. Lift the burner up and out of the opening in the cooktop, disconnect and label the wires, and remove the burner". Remove the two(2) mounting screws holding the igniter to the base of the burner, and remove. Be careful installing the new igniter, you don't want to crack, chip, or break the porcelain insulators. Thanks and Good Luck
