I have a Maytag washer that will not spin fast enough to remove all the water, is this a simple repair?
ANSWER Hello Ralph, actually the spinning of the machine isn't responsible for the removal of the water. The pump is driven by a belt that is separate from the belt that drives the transmission. When working properly the machine should empty of all water even if it wasn't spinning, the clothes would just be wet. I would check to make sure there isn't an obstruction in the pump and make sure the pump pulley is turning freely. Another thing that is common on this series of Maytag's, was something would get stuck in the hose that goes in between the tub and pump. If you remove the front panel and take a look at these things you may very well find the problem. I really don't think you're looking at a tub bearing issue. Thanks.
