Machine started making a loud whirring noise while spinning. It spins and stops fine right now, but want to fix before it causes other damage, the water pump was caked with lime, could that be the problem or is it a bearing issue in the centerpost?

ANSWER Hello Geraldine,
If you cleaned the lime out of the pump and the unit is working properly now then it was the lime that was causing the noise. As the motor turns the pump 3363394 it would be hitting the lime causing scraping inside pump.
