On automatic cycle dryer runs and runs but never shuts off. A couple of time we have smelled gas and had to shut everything off. Is the gas valve not closing like it is supposed to or is there a sensor telling it to open? The ignitor seems to be working properly. The timer does not advance every time when on the automatic cycle.

ANSWER Hello Jim. You will need to check and see if the gas is lighting everytime the igniter 279311 comes on. If not, you may have a weak igniter. This would cause the unit to continue to run during sensor dry. Hope this helps.
