Everytime I turn on my oven I smell gas. I had the gas company come out and check it and they said it COULD be the safety valve. Before I replace the valve could this be the problem?

ANSWER Hello Rosemarie. If the safety valve is leaking, yes it can cause the issue you are having. If it is not leaking, a weak igniter can cause the issue as well.
