My dryer has a tapping noise at times while running. I would like to acquire all parts associated with this condition before disassembly and any suggestions on parts replacement while this six year old dryer is disassembled. thank you.
ANSWER Gil, There are quite a number of parts involved : from front to back(as you dismantle the machine) Check for a small article stuck in the front tumbler bulkhead seal, check the front support drum roller and shaft washers and spacers. Remove and check the belt for damage, cracks, and loose threads. check the idler pulley and shaft for excess wear and tear. Remove the motor and blower as an assembly and check the blower wheel and the inside of the blower plenum for loose articles and lint build up, cracked vanes of the wheel. While you have the drum out, check the rear drum seal for a small article stuck in it, check the rear drum rollers and shafts and washers and spacers. you may also want to remove the drum vanes and check for a coin or article inside the vane, tapping the drum as it rotates. As a last resort, you will want to check the belt pulley on the motor, they are a pressed on friction fit, but could get loose and create a noise as well. Good Luck and Thanks
