I have a KitchenAid fridge that won't make any ice. We do have a Culligan reverse osmosis system but everything checks out fine there. The water filter on the fridge was replaced but I think the cap was thrown out along with the old filter. Do I need to buy a replacement cap? Can this fridge work without a water filter? Or should I buy a bypass filter cap? Thanks.

ANSWER Hi. You will not get any water pressure at the fountain controls without the bypass plug part # 61003791. The ice maker does not use the water filter to fill the ice maker. It is a dual valve part # W10408180. Remove the ice maker fill tube from the back of the unit to see if it is plugged with frozen water. Run warm sink water in it to thaw it. Dry it all the way. Then use a new clamp on the water fill tube at the back of the unit. If it is clogged it is because of a bad water valve. Thank You.
