This filter housing on my KitchenAid refrigerator/freezer broke during the night and flooded my house. Damages will cost about $35,000 to repair. My questions: Is this filter housing poorly designed? How confident can I be that replacing the housing won't result in another catastrophic failure in a couple of years? Comment: For those with leaking housings, ACT NOW before the housing fails completely!

ANSWER Hello Mike. If you replace the housing 2186443 you should be fine. if it ever starts to leak, replace it then and dont wait. A small leak always turns into a larger one. The housings leaking is not a "common" problem and happens in all brands of units. Hope this helps.
