I've had trouble installing the water filter for years. It just doesn't seem to fit without significant pressure to turn it. Once I remove the "used" filter, you can see the locking mechanism at the top of the filter is torn up a bit. Is this an issue with the housing or the wrong filter. The guy at Lowes says there's only one model of filter for the bottom mount 1/4 turn filters. How hard is the replacement of the housing? I'm pretty capable, and would gladly pay to have it done right, but if it's an "easy" fix, I can probably handle it.
ANSWER Hello Lawrence. The water filter housing 2186443 is not hard to replace. You will need to remove the grille off the bottom and remove the filter from the housing. Then remove the screws securing the housing and disconnect the water lines going to the housing. Now remove the old housing and install the new one.
