HOW HIGH IS THE WATER SUPPOSED TO COME WHEN THE DISHWASHER HAS FILLED WITH WATER? IS IT SUPPOSED TO TOUCH THE HEATING ELEMENT? OURS IS ONLY FILLING AN INCH HIGH AND OUR DISHES ARE STILL FILTHY. I SAW ON YOUTUBE THE WATER SHOULD TOUCH THE HEATING ELEMENT. DO I NEED A NEW WATER VALVE (#3378779).

Steve for Model Number DU840CWDQ5

ANSWER Steve, Yes, When the dishwasher water level is correct, the water should be in contact with the bottom of the heating element, at least, after the dishwasher fills and washes for 3 to 5 minutes. The fill valve 8283346 is the most likely issue and replacing it usually eliminates the problem. Thanks and Good Luck
