I would like to remove #2256126 from my Whirlpool Conquest refrigerator because it seems to add some sort of white floaters in the filtered water. I would like to replace it with 5 feet section of comparable 5/16" OD water tube. I looked at 5/16" OD part #5210JA3004U.
However, not sure if it is compatible with what I am trying to do.
Is there a part# you could recommend?
ANSWER Sam, Replacing or changing the water coil or tank will only be a "temporary" solution. The white / clear "floaties" will return eventually. It is a combination of the water quality and the high efficiency of the water filter. The filters actually remove most if not all of the chemicals in the water. This allows certain chemicals and deposits to form in the tubing or tank and appear in the water when dispensed. your best bet is to remove or bypass the filter for a few days, and flush the system, then reinstall the filter, etc. You may want or need to do this once or twice a year, depending on the water quality.
