I have a kenmore series 80. It stopped oscillating making a fast clicking sound, but spun out to empty the water. I replaced the motor coupler 285753A as directed in the video. Tunrned on washer fill tank and it clicked to oscillate. Agitator did not move and there was a faint hum like the motor was bound up. Clicked forward again and heard the faint hum again , for about 10-15 seconds, I turned off washer as it strarted to smell like burnt rubber. Nothing spins. What may I have done wrong? ANSWER Hello Phil,
You may want to check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the pump that would cause the motor not to turn. It is possible that something got into the pump and will allow motor to turn one way but not the other. You can pull the pump off the motor shaft and see if the washer runs without tripping overload. This will tell you if there is a pump issue. If this checks ok then you will want to check to make sure that you have the coupler fully seated on the motor shaft and transmission shaft. If this checks ok then you may have a bad transmission 3360629 or an electrical issue where the motor is getting 120Vac from two sources at the same time, such as a bad speed switch or welded contacts in the timer. Of course you could have a bad motor or motor start capacitor.
