I am replacing the heating element. On the video, you show 3 wires that connect to the heating element. You show one top wire that goes into the black thermostat, and 2 that go into prongs on the bottom piece - one is deeper into the dryer and the 2nd is closer to outer.
My drier has only TWO wires that are connected. I have one that goes into the top black, and one that goes into the prong closest to me. I do not have the one that goes into the deeper prong - appears to be an orange wire from the video.
I looked around and can't find a wire that may have broken off. I took out the old heating element and it appears to be cracked so I think the problem with the dryer not heating is that. BUT I need to know if it is ok - with my type of drier - to have only two wires connected instead of the 3 that you show in the video. My order # 3549044 and the part number I ordered is
WPL 279838. The dryer is 10 years old. Thank you very much!!!
Your black thermostat connects to the heater terminal, you would simply need 1 wire to the terminal on the hi limit thermostat and 1 wire to the heating element.
