What is the purpose of a condensation wick & will a problem be created if it is removed?
ANSWER Hello Mary,
The condensation wick assists the units' defrost cycle to dissipate the moisture gathered by the defrost system. Without it the unit will accumulate too much water in the defrost pan and it will cause water to begin appearing where it should show up. Another disadvantage is the water, being condensate, is pure and will stagnate. This will cause an unsavory odor to appear around the unit.
