Dishwasher stuck in a cycle and will not shut down when door is closed like normally. Will turn off only when depressing on/off switch. The dishwasher make an intermittent whining noise when it was drying, never finished the cycle, and the dishes were not dry. An electric burning smell was noted coming from the unit. Turned it off at the wall switch. Since then tried to make diagnosis using Bosch instructions, but does not seem to work. At first I thought I needed a heating element, now I think I need a control module. Any thoughts? Thanks

Answer Hello Don,
At first guess, I would say it's probably a water inlet valve. You see, as this is designed, if the water valve doesn't let the water in at the proper pressure, water will leak at a very small dribble and put water in the base. When this happens the flood sensor sees the water in the bottom and kicks the drain pump on every 60 seconds or so. It will still cycle when it doesn't see much water in the base, but it puts a little water in it each fill and as the motor spins it evaporates a little water.
This of course is a guess from afar, but a water valve 425458 is cheaper than a control. Since the water valve has to be replaced every few years anyway, I think it's worth a try.
If you want to check first, you can turn the power off to the unit and remove the kick panel. Using a small inspection mirror you can look in the very bottom of the unit and see if water is present. You can also use the paper towel method. Push a paper towel into the bottom of the unit and when you pull It back out, if it's wet, the water valve is probably not opening all of the way when energized.
If it is dry in the base, the control 186923 is probably the issue.
Hi, I can turn on the dishwasher it goes thru the first cycle then it takes about an hour before it cycles again. Also, the water is not hot. Do know what part do I need?

Answer Hello Garry! You will need to make sure that the water temp coming into the unit is 120 degrees. Also check to make sure that the heating element is functioning properly. This helps heat the water to the needed temp. If the temperature is not accurate the dishwasher will not advance to the next cycles. Thanks.
